Linguistics Classes at PittVisit the Linguistics Department's page for current course listings! The core courses for the major are: Introduction to Linguistics, Phonetics and Phonemics, Phonology, Morphology, and Syntactic Theory. For the last four of those classes, undergraduate students have the option of taking the Accelerated version, which is a combined undergrad/graduate class.

Less-Commonly-Taught Languages Center (LCTL)The Linguistics Department's LCTL offers 15 languages: American Sign Language, Amharic, Arabic, Danish, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Hungarian, Irish, Modern Greek, Persian (Farsi), Quechua, Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Through LCTL, there is an option to pursue certificates in Arabic Language & Linguistics and American Sign Language.
As of Fall 2022, LCTL now offers 10 minors in less commonly taught languages! Each minor is 17 credits, consisting of four language classes and one related elective. |
